Creator: Afewerke Tedros
Date: 8XX A.F.
Materials and tools: Oil paint on canvas. Hog bristle paintbrush, palette knife.
Description: Artistic rendition of the creation of the first Host Aweke. The following passages from Creation of Miya 2 can be found describing this scene:
1. Now Aweke was tending to the farmland of her mother, Abeba. 2. The afternoon rains soon arrived, and unwilling to abandon her work, she took shelter under the shade of an acacia tree. 3. Lightning struck her down from above, with such force that it shook the ground and uprooted the tree from its roots.
4. When Aweke rose, she saw the Goddess in the storm above, and quickly grew afraid.
5. “Aweke!” the Goddess called out.
6. “Here I am,” Aweke said, growing fearful.
7. “I am the Goddess of your mother and your father, your clan, and all the ones who came before you. 8. Please, do not be afraid”.
9. “Why have you come to me?” Aweke asked.
10. “I have come to to instruct you to save your people from persecution. 11. I have heard their cries across the land, felt their deaths at the hands of those that fear my blessing to them. 12. I have seen this, and must put an end to it.”
13. “Why do you need me?” Aweke said. 14. “I am nobody of importance.”
15. “I have given you directly a piece of my divine power,” the Goddess explained, “and with this, we have now become one.”
