Prologue II: Page 5
The Gifts of the Goddess I, II, and III
Creator: Meseret Menelik
Date: 8XX A.F.
Materials and tools: Kaolite infused oil paint on wood. Sable bristle paintbrushes.
Description: Artistic rendition of select events within of the Creation of Miya 2-5, specifically Demonstration of the Goddess’ Miracles, Aweke Speaking to the Maji, and the Battle of Birhan.
Additional Notes: At the time this painting was created, it was thought that the Battle of Birhan took place between 460 and 490 A.F.. However, kaolite dating of weaponry and debris at the site of the Battle of Birhan suggests that this took place several years, around 522 A.F. This confusion is likely due to a mistranslation in the Creation of Miya 4 concerning the date that Aweke’s clan exited the Valley of the Black Soil. The original text of the Creation of Miya was in a dialect unfamiliar to the Miyan clerics who wrote the most recent translation of the post-Fall Testament.
